Coat and care

Coat and care

The Lagotto coat, with distinct undercoat, progresses to maturity over a period of up to two and a half years. The standard describes the coat in detail.

The coat is curly, semi-shaggy on the surface and water-resistant, as is the undercoat, and needs to be groomed four to six times a year.

In our puppy guide we give you an overview of the correct materials and methods for grooming your Lagotto.

Puppies should be accustomed to this kind of grooming from an early age.

The Lagotto does not shed like most dog breeds.

The often told story that a Lagotto would therefore be suitable for living with people who are allergic to dogs is not correct.

Hypoallergenic dogs do not exist; nor does the Lagotto. We will be happy to give you any further information on this.

PS: Consequently, do not compare a Lagotto with a Labradoodle.
